Search underway for new Vice-President and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences

As we prepare for Dr. Paul O’Byrne’s successful term as Vice-President and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences to end June 30, 2026, a search committee has been formed.
I’m pleased to share that the posting for the position of Vice-President and Dean, Health Sciences, is now public, and I encourage you to share it with your networks.
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a prominent and integral part of what McMaster is as a university and how we’re recognized globally. From pioneering problem-based learning and evidence-based medicine to developing innovative approaches in nursing, rehabilitation science, midwifery, public health, and biomedical discovery, the Faculty has shaped how health education and research are delivered and conducted worldwide.
The next Vice-President and Dean will play a critical role in sustaining and extending this momentum. This person will lead a Faculty that embodies McMaster’s highest aspirations – for creativity, collaboration, and community partnership. The next Vice-President and Dean will help us strengthen our clinical and research networks, nurture our learners and future leaders, and advance our shared commitment to health equity and inclusive excellence.
We are entering an era of opportunity for greater innovation, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. We are building a university that industry, governments, and communities turn to when they need a trusted partner. The Faculty of Health Sciences is central to that vision. Its work not only transforms health outcomes, but also fuels discovery, economic growth, and community resilience.
I want to thank Dr. Paul O’Byrne, who continues to serve with great devotion and distinction as Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, as I know he will through to the end of his term in June. We will be sharing plans for celebrating of Dr. O’Byrne’s tenure as Vice-President and Dean in the new year.
